Sheridan County Airport to Begin Phase II Renovation

Sheridan County will apply for federal assistance to expand and renovate the commercial terminal building at the county airport.

Airport Manager John Stopka discussed the scope of Phase II of the project.

The total estimated cost of Phase II of the project is roughly $2.6 million.

The amount of federal dollars that will be applied for is $2.3 million, with WYDOT Aeronautics contributing a grant for $92,000 and the airport contributing nearly $62,000 which has already been allocated out of the current year’s budget.

The project is currently in the design phase, and requests for bids are expected to go out in early 2022 with some outside construction expected to begin in the summer of 2022.

Indoor renovations could start in the fall/winter of 2022 according to Stopka.

The commission voted to approve the application for funding.
