Tongue River Girls Basketball Drops First Game At 2022 2A State Tournament

The Tongue River Lady Eagles jumped out to an 11-4 lead, but Wyoming Indian took control from there to win 59-45, in the first round of the 2A Girls Basketball State Tournament in Casper.

The Lady Chiefs defense forced 25 turnovers, resulting in 25 points, and TR was unable to contain Layla C’Bearing who led all scorers with 26 points.

Chaylee Campbell led Tongue River (11-16) with 10 points, while Jeniah Lovingood had 10 rebounds.

TR will play in the consolation round on Friday, March 4th at 9am in the Ford Wyoming Center against either St. Stephens or Moorcroft.

This is the first time that the Lady Eagles have played in the state tournament since Coach Dianne Moser retired.

Wyoming Indian is the 3-time defending 2A State Champs.
