A change of plea hearing was recently held in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for 50-year-old Toni Oleson. Pursuant to terms of a plea agreement that was reached with the State, Oleson pleaded guilty to the charges of felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance – marijauna. The alleged crimes are being prosecuted as felonies because Oleson has three prior convictions of drug possession. The plea deal recommends a sentence of 2 to 4 years in prison for each charge, suspended in lieu of a 90-day split sentence and credit for time served and three years of supervised probation. The sentences and probation will run concurrent to one another.
District Court Judge John Fenn ordered that a presentence investigation be completed. Oleson’s bond was continued under the same terms and conditions that were previously set in Circuit Court with the added condition that she report to Probation and Parole to advise them she’s pleaded guilty and to begin the presentence investigation process. According to the affidavit of probable cause, Oleson was arrested on August 9 when her residence was searched by law enforcement and parole agents.
