Polo Matches

January 6, 2022

The Big Horn Equestrian Center has been the site of polo matches since 1985, but in fact, polo has been played in the Big Horn area south of Sheridan since the 1890s, making this the oldest polo venue west of the Mississippi River.

Games begin the first week in June and are played every Sunday through Labor Day weekend. Tournament games start at 2 pm through June, and at 1 and 3 pm in July and August. Practice games are played at 3 and 5 on Wednesdays and Fridays, and some tournament games are played on Friday evenings.

Games are open free to spectators. Bleachers are provided at the Sunday games, along with concessions for food and beverages, and announcers at each game keep everyone up on the action. The clubhouse is open to spectators and players after the last match.
