JCSD1 Board Amends Covid Contact Protocols

January 24, 2022

The Johnson County School Board discussed and then voted to update their COVID Contact Protocols during a special meeting Thursday night.

Superintendent Charles Auzqui said administration’s goal is to find a way to keep as many kids as possible in the school buildings, as opposed to participating in remote learning from home, and to give options with the changes in the protocol to transition to a more open stance on COVID in the district.

Dr. Mark Schueler, attending the school board meeting, explained the reasoning behind the suggested changes.

The changes adopted by the board allow three options for close contact exposure, which are (1) to return to school with a mask, (2) remote learning, or (3) return to school without a mask.
