The Sheridan County Sheriff is asking residents and travelers to remain off of Red Grade until it reopens.
Red Grade Road, also known as Primary Forest Route 26, in Sheridan County has been closed since Dec. 15.
According to SCO Sergeant Devereaux Johnson, the road is closed each winter season to prevent travelers from getting stuck and stranded in the Bighorn Mountains during hazardous weather conditions.
Johnson told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse that the road has been quiet, but it’s a good idea to remind people that attempting the trip is not only dangerous, it’s against the law.
