Commission Addresses Concerns, OKs Subdivision

The Sheridan County Commission has approved a subdivision after reviewing reports and asking questions concerning flooding that occurs in the area.

County Planner Mark Reid explained that Randal and Stacie Huckeba applied for a subdivision permit for the OxBow Ranch Subdivision, proposing six residential lots on the 50-acre property south of Highway 331 west of Sheridan.

Concerns were raised over allowing building in an area that is prone to flooding with engineers pinpointing areas that homes could be constructed on.

Commissioners Nick Siddle and Terry Cram said they were still concerned but agreed that the engineers that had reviewed the application and approved it knew what they were doing.

The commission voted to allow the subdivision, with Commissioner Siddle voting against.
