The Wright Place Middle School

February 24, 2022

The Wright Place Middle School is an alternative school for students whose individual situations make it difficult to realize their success through the mainstream junior high, even though it is an excellent institution. These students may face academic or behavioral challenges for varying reasons and feel overwhelmed by the sheer size of the regular junior high.
The Wright Place’s smaller size and family atmosphere are better suited to meet the unique needs of these students and prepare them with the skills to achieve success. The Wright Place opened in the fall of 2000, at the VA Campus, sharing facilities and resources with the Ft. Mackenzie High School. It moved to various buildings in Sheridan, and in 2017 it separated from Ft. Mackenzie and moved into the Early building at SJHS, where it is today.
The overall mission of the school is to educate each individual based on needs and abilities; meeting high standards and academic excellence. They strive to foster a community where students and adult curiosity and ideas are respected. We believe that all students must experience success, as well as acknowledge failure, in order to develop confidence and the capacity for risk-taking.
