According to Sheridan County Undersheriff Levi Dominguez, both the County and the City of Sheridan contracted with Emergency Communications Network in 2010 to license its CodeRED high-speed notification solution.
The CodeRED system provides Sheridan officials the ability to quickly deliver messages to targeted areas or the entire County of Sheridan. Dominguez told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program this system can alert residents of emergencies, missing or abducted children, natural emergencies and more, but residents must register their number and address for the service.
The reason for the registration revolves around how the system works. Should an emergency in an area of Sheridan County take place, or residents require a warning, the alert will only be sent to residents who have registered their address within that specific area of concern.
According to Dominguez, should an alert be sent using the CodeRED system to residents of Story, people living in north Sheridan will not receive the alert.
