One Sheridan High School Wrestler has boosted his stock in the eyes of some college recruiters.
Junior Kolten Powers was one of 2 Bronc wrestlers to win All-American status at the recent National High School Athletic Coaches Association (NHSACA) Folkstyle Wrestling Championship Tournament at Virginia Beach, Virginia.
During the Wyoming High School season he wrestled at 120 pounds and had a record of 45-and-8 and was this year’s 4A state runner-up at 120 pounds.
At Virginia Beach, Powers wrestled in the 113 pound weight class.
He says he was approached by one college coach, during the national championship tournament and adds he plans to continue wrestling this spring and summer.

If you understand anything about wrestling, you’ll know that one Sheridan high school All-American was out for blood, so to speak.
Sophomore Dane Steel placed 5th in the sophomore 145 pound weight class at the NHSACA Folkstyle Wrestling National Championship Tournament.
A wrestler must finish in the top 8, to receive All-American status.
Last year as a freshman, Steel’s All-American hopes were dashed in the blood round, which was the round he had to win to finish in the top 8.
He says the competition at the national tournament is much different compared to the regular season in Wyoming.

Steel is this year’s Wyoming 4A state champ at 152 pounds and had a record of 47-and-2.
