During the recent Johnson County School Board meeting, the school board representative to the Recreation District Board, Mike Moon, updated the school board on the number of applicants for funding and the amount of the requests they received this year.
Moon said they were scheduled to conduct in-person meetings late last week and would be letting those that were awarded funding know as soon as possible.
When asked about the specific amount of funds they had to allocate this year. Moon said it was, as of the school board meeting, “a moving target,” but guessed it would be around $330,000 although Rec Board President Jack Tarter would have a number locked in before they awarded funds.
The board also voted to set the 2022-23 mill levies for the Rec Board at 1 mill and the Board of Cooperative Higher Educational Services (BOCHES) at 0.5 mill.
