The YMCA and the Food Group teamed up last year, with some generous donations from Dairy Queen, to operate a pilot program exploring an interest and need in the community. The Food Group provided nutritious meals and snacks while the YMCA organized and operated fun activities and games to keep kids in Sheridan fed and active during the summer season at no cost to parents.
With the success of the pilot program, this year marks the inaugural kick-off of Camp in the Park.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Sheridan County YMCA Executive Director Liz Cassiday told listeners that although the Y offers many varied and diverse summer camps, not every kid has an opportunity to take part.

Beginning June 15, the Y and the Food Group will arrive at the North Heights Park every Wednesday evening at 4:30 p.m. For an hour, kids will take part in games and camp style activities. All children are welcome. The park is located across the street from the intersection of North Heights Drive and North Heights Road.
