The HUB on Smith talks expanding services and participating in WyoGives

July 11, 2022

The HUB on Smith offers many services to the senior population of Sheridan County. The reliability of the home delivered meals service kept many seniors fed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although the HUB has returned to a more normal operating schedule, the number of seniors isn’t what it used to be according to Executive Director Carman Rideout.

As the visitors to the HUB slowly return to the pre-pandemic numbers, the services offered by the HUB continue to improve and expand.

During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Rideout talked about the expanding program Day Break.

According to the HUB, Day Break is not only valuable for those receiving services, but for their loved ones as well. This service provides a break from the important, yet strenuous, tasks of taking care of someone. Day Break plays a critical role in keeping people in their homes and out of long-term care by providing a safe and friendly place for seniors with specific care needs.

Help at Home is another program that helps keep Sheridan’s aging population at home and out of long term care facilities.

Director of Development Meredith Sopko told listeners a little about this program which sends a professional right to your home.
