Historic Preservation Tools for Wyoming

July 19, 2022

Wyoming is rich in history. The Cowboy State was frontier and  has played an integral part in the settling of other states in the America West.

Preserving that history for future generations is only a part of the mission statement of the Sheridan Community Land Trust, but one they put priority on accomplishing.

Recently the SCLT has contracted with Mary Ruffin Hanbury from Hanbury Preservation Consulting. At an upcoming presentation she will provide an overview of a broad range of preservation tools used across the United States with a goal of helping select the tools that might work well in Wyoming.

While appearing on Sheridan Meida’s Public Pulse program, SCLT Executive Director Brad Bauer told listeners that learning the various techniques and preservation strategies used throughout the US will allow more work to be done in Wyoming’s preservation.

SCLT Director of Marketing and Development Chris Vrba said this is ideal for architects, designers, archaeologists, community historians and preservationists, as well as people who own or manage historic properties, structures, sites and spaces.
