During the recent Johnson County Commission meeting, the budget for 2022-23 was approved by vote of the commission.
In the General Fund, the commission approved $12.8 million in total operations; $150,000 in Capital Improvements, Facilities Department; just over $25 million in cash reserves; $6.6 million in Perpetual Funds; $319,000 for the library; $286,000 for the county fair; and $207,000 for the Gatchell Museum.
The total General County Requirement for the fiscal year is $45.6 million.
The county also oversees $3.6 million in various grants.
Mill levies were approved for the county’s special districts, eight mills each for Kaycee and Buffalo, as well as 56.5 mills for the Johnson County School District.
After the budget resolutions were passed, the commissioners thanked Clerk Vicki Edleman for working on her final budget for the county.
