Johnson County Primary Election Results 2022

Voters in Johnson County cast their ballots Tuesday in local, state, and national races in the Primary Election with no big surprises in the outcomes.

There were 3,978 ballots cast in the county during the primary: 3,881 Republican; 72 Democratic; and 25 Nonpartisan.

In the race for US Representative, county voters chose Harriet Hageman over Liz Cheney by nearly a three-to-one margin.

Incumbent Governor Mark Gordon also won Johnson County.

Chuck Gray won the county for Secretery of State.

State Auditor went to Kristi Racines.

State Treasurer was won by Curt Meier.

Brian Schroeder took the county for Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Barry Crago won the race for State Representative for House District 30 with roughly 2,300 votes to Richard Tass’ 1,400.

For Johnson County Commissioner, there were two seats available and the winning candidates are Bill Novotny and Jeff Shelley.

The race for Mayor of Buffalo went to incumbent Shane Schrader by a nearly two-to-one margin.

Buffalo City Council, which has two seats available, had 1,418 write-in votes cast that must be counted by hand, and results are expected later this week in that race.

The race for Johnson County Sheriff was won by incumbent Rod Odenbach with 2,153 votes against Paul Kozisek’s 1,624 votes.

Kate Harriet took the race for County Clerk.

The Clerk of District Court race went to incumbent Paige Rhoads with 2,734 votes to Casey Rodriguez’s 874 votes.
