The water supply for the City of Sheridan exceeds Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards, according to Tom Manolis, Sheridan Water Supply and Treatment Superintendent, who spoke about water quality with the city council during their last meeting.
Manolis said there are four primary tools the city uses to exceed those standards: the watershed control program; the pre-treatment facilities near the mountains; and the water treatment facilities at the Big Goose Creek Canyon and the city’s water treatment facility on West 5th Street.
He discussed how the city treats water for various contaminants and the chemicals used in the process.
Manolis discussed water supply through the remainder of the summer.
Manolis said reservoir levels remain above average and the city began releasing water from Twin Lakes Reservoir two weeks later than normal this year, which he said doesn’t seem like much but in a 90-day season it is significant.
