The Sheridan County Commission has approved an application for Federal assistance for the expansion and renovation of the commercial terminal building at the county airport.
Airport Manager John Stopka explained that the application is for 2023 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) funding for the project that is currently under construction.
Stopka said the project is underway and going well.
The funding is for 2023 and the federal government asked for the applications to be submitted early, before FY2023 started in hopes that the funding will come in February or March of 2023 before the airport has to spend their own money on the project.
He said the airport could front that money at that time, but he doesn’t expect it will be necessary.
