A local political organization is concerned over a decision made by the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce to deny their float entry in this year’s Johnson County Fair and Rodeo Parade.
Laura DeMatteis, representing the Republican Women Freedom Alliance, spoke to the Buffalo City Council during their last meeting to let them know about the chamber’s decision and the organization’s disagreement with it.
A written letter was given to the council describing what happened and the reasons why the chamber denied the float, according to DeMatteis.
She asked that the council consider not funding the chamber when they come to the city for funding in the future, based on their denying the group’s right to free speech.
No action was taken by the council.
