EMC Reports Generator in Place for Emergency Radio Broadcasts

Johnson County Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) Marilyn Connolly updated the county commission on the progress that has been made on a project funded through a Homeland Security Grant to build a generator on-site for local broadcasts in an emergency situation.

She and the commission discussed the possibility of applying for another grant to fund a generator for the courthouse which has been turned down in the past, but now that the county has been funded for a central information commandcenter to be installed in the courthouse, FEMA may look more positively at funding a generator for the building.

Connolly said she will look into the possibility in the next round of funding.
