A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Wyoming Veterans Skilled Nursing Facility in Buffalo was held Thursday with many local and state dignitaries on hand to participate.
The facility was built adjacent to the Veterans Home of Wyoming on a portion of the campus just east of the existing buildings.
Speakers at the ceremony included Governor Mark Gordon, Johnson County Commissioner Bill Novotny, and Buffalo Mayor Shane Schrader among others.
After the ribbon cutting, Governor Gordon spoke about what the facility means to both the state and to Johnson County.
According to Commissioner Novotny, the $23 million skilled nursing facility was paid for in a 35/65 match funding scenario, with $9 million coming from the state and the remainder coming from Federal funds.
There was also a $600,000 contribution from the Kuehne Foundation for furnishings for the new facility.
The Wyoming Veterans Skilled Nursing Facility took two years to complete.
