During this month’s City/County Meeting between the Buffalo City Council and Johnson County Commission, the two governmental agencies discussed the need for a Growth Management Agreement and set a deadline for their respective planning commissions to draft one.
Commissioner Bill Novotny explained that the discussions between them have been ongoing over 20 years.
He suggested that the city and county look at putting together a formal Memorandum of Understanding or similar legal agreement so both planning commissions are aware of what the expectations are on subdivisions within the extraterritorial zone within one-mile of the city limits.
Both governments agreed that the agreement is necessary and they will have their planning commissions collaborate and bring a draft document back to them by March 1, 2023.
