SCSD#1 Honors Retirees, Teachers and Staff

On Friday, May 5, at Big Horn High School, SCSD#1 honored four retirees, Pete Kilbride, Superintendent, who has worked in the school system since 2006; Justin Kidneigh, social studies teacher, from 2013-2023; Susan Nicolson, third grade teacher 1999-2023; and Cara Reichert, accounting technician, 1999-2022.

Kilbride was the superintendent at SCSD#1 for five years. Prior to that he was four years a principal as Tongue River Middle School, and prior to that he was counselor at TRHS.

Clint Krumm presented a slide show with Kilbride’s face photo shopped on various bodies, along with five reasons of why Kilbride retired. They also had the crowd laughing over several jokes that both Krumm and Kilbride shared.

SCSD#1 honored two ‘Unsung Heroes’ and Krumm explained who were honored this year and why they received the award.

SCSD#1 also honored the teachers of the year, and each principal said a few words about each teacher.

This year the honorees were: Barb Cavanagh, BHMS; Blaine Kern, TRMS; Alexis Walter, BHE; Carrie Kinzie, TRHS; Amy Simonson, TRE; Colette Anthony, BHHS; Erica Bainer, BHMS; Janessa Blain, TRHS; Susie Fisher, TRMS; Sarah Hogan, BHHS; Caroline Houck BHE; and Andrea Sears TRE.

SCSD#1 also honored Janessa Blain as SCSD#1 teacher of the year.

A good crowd attended the awards ceremony.
