Barrasso: We Need More and Better Energy Infrastructure

U.S. Senator John Barrasso, at a recent Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources (ENR) hearing, addressed the need for more and better energy infrastructure. The full committee hearing was held to conduct oversight of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Barrasso said the U.S. Supreme Court has explained clearly the principal purpose of the Federal Power Act and the Natural Gas Act, and that purpose is to encourage the orderly development of plentiful supplies of electricity and natural gas at just and reasonable rates. Barrasso added that Congress has charged the commission with this mission and they must resist those who want to use the Commission to circumvent Congress and fundamentally change the nation’s energy sector.

Others who testified at the hearing were FERC Chairman Willie Phillips and Commissioners James Danly, Allison Clements and Mark Christie.
