It’s been one year since the natural flooding disaster occurred at Yellowstone National Park, and although the Park has reopened, the effects of the flood may still be having an impact.
The Park reports there were almost 455,000 recreational visits in May 2023.
That’s down 13% compared to May 2022, when there were more than 523,000 visits, but that year ended up being the busiest May on record.
So far in 2023, there have been more than 645,000 visits as of the end of May.
That’s down 12% compared to the same time last year, when there were more than 523,000 visits.
Despite the decline in both May 2023, and the year to date categories, numbers are up compared to 2019, which was the year before the covid pandemic started.
The park adds that June, July and August tend to be the busiest months of the year.
