During their last regular meeting the Sheridan County Commission voted to approve a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for the Vineyard Cellular Tower.

County Planner Mark Reid explained that Amy Vineyard applied for the CUP to erect a cell tower that will be owned and operated by Horizon Tower on an approximately 484-acre parcel just north of Highway 14/16 near Arvada.

Reid gave more details on the proposed CUP.

There was no comment offered during the public hearing.

The commission approved the CUP on a unanimous vote with five conditions recommended by the Planning & Zoning Commission.

The five conditions are listed below.

Conditions for the CUP:

If applicable, that the applicant applies for and receive a Building Permit pursuant to Sheridan County’s IBC.

That a WYDOT Access Permit be obtained for the access road intersecting US Highway 14/16.

That the tower and equipment shall be removed and the area reclaimed by the applicant within one year should the tower no longer be in use for a continuous one-year period.

That in the event the tower is lighted for aircraft collision prevention, a dark-hours, non-strobe, FAA-approved alternative lighting system be used.

That any lighting for the equipment shelter or ground activities be fully shielded to minimize glare.
