The Buffalo City Council has voted to approve a contract to provide animal care services to the city.

At their recent meeting, the council discussed a proposed contract with the Buffalo Kennel Club, LLC to house and feed dogs brought to them by the Buffalo Police Department.

Later in the meeting, St. Francis Animal Shelter Board President Laura Ulrich (UL-rich) asked for clarification on the city’s contract with the new animal care provider.

In a separate interview, Mayor Shane Schrader explained that the Buffalo Kennel Club is a private entity created specifically to house stray dogs for the City of Buffalo.

He said negotiations with St. Francis Animal Shelter had stalled and the city chose to go in a different direction for the services.
