Buffalo Mayor Releases Statement on Health Issue

Buffalo Mayor Shane Schrader has released a statement on his recent health issue.

The statement reads, “ On Wednesday, July 28 at approximately 8 p.m. Mayor Shane Schrader experienced a cardiac event commonly known as STEMI, (Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction) this is caused by a sudden blockage of an artery supplying blood to the heart.”

“Mayor Schrader was treated by Dr. Richards and the Emergency room Staff of Johnson County Health Care Center and was transferred to Sheridan Memorial Hospital receiving a procedure to remove the blockage by Cardiologist Dr. Brennan.”

“This procedure was successfully completed within the hour.”

“Mayor Schrader was kept for observation overnight and was released from the hospital at noon the following day, with restrictions of no heavy lifting for five days, returning to full duty after that.”

“At the time of the event Wednesday evening, (city) department heads and Vice Mayor (John) Camino were notified of the incident.”

“Mayor Schrader has been in contact with the Vice Mayor, and department heads since the incident and will be at city meetings on Tuesday Morning.”
