The Wyoming Game and Fish Department offers specialized training opportunities for boat owners to perform inspections for aquatic invasive species on their watercraft.
Wyoming Game and Fish Sheridan Region Aquatic Invasive Species Specialist Reed Moore announced the training opportunity on a recent appearance of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse and gave listeners an explanation as to why the department would train citizens to inspect watercraft.

According to the Game and Fish, these trainings are great options for watercraft owners who travel out of state frequently with their boat. By being able to inspect their own watercraft for AIS, residents still have to stop at open check stations, but can show that they have already inspected their boat and can quickly get back on the road.
The training includes information on basic biology of invasive species, the impacts of AIS, transport vectors and distribution of AIS. It includes classroom instruction, a question-and-answer session and a hands-on watercraft inspection exercise.
The next AIS Inspection training is scheduled for April 26, at the Sheridan Game and Fish Regional Office.
Game and Fish would like to make the public aware this is a full day training and is free to the community but requires registration. Interested parties can call the regional office at 307-672-7418, to get registered or can register on the Game and Fish website.
