The Wyoming State Department of Workforce Services says the unemployment rate in most of the state did not change much from May to June of this year, which is normally when some teenagers join the workforce and work summertime jobs.
The statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Wyoming held steady at 2.9% in June.
It is up slightly from 2.8% in June of 2023, but it’s well below the June 2024 national average of 4.1%
Sheridan County’s unemployment rate for June 2024 was at 2.7%, and Johnson County’s rate was at 2.8%.
Both of those numbers are unchanged from the previous month and up some from June 2023.
Teton County had the lowest unemployment rate in Wyoming in June 2024 at 1.7%, while Uinta County had the highest rate at 3.5%.
Nonfarm employment in the Cowboy State increased by 1,400 jobs from June 2023 to June 2024.
