State Representative Marilyn Connolly (HD-40), in her weekly update from this year’s legislative session, discussed SF0069, the Property Tax exemption bill.
The legislation is currently in a conference committee, where they hope to bridge differences between the House and Senate versions of the bill.
She gave details on what the House wanted to add to the bill.
Connolly said the House Back-fill was set at $200 million per year, and they wanted to change the minimum time you were required to live in your property to qualify for the exemption from six months to eight months out of the year.
The House also added an amendment to take effect in 2027 that would set the exemption at 25% that would not sunset.
She said the bill is now is now being worked by the conference committee, and she is concerned with what may come out there.
Connolly said she is afraid of the outcome Wyoming residents may see from the final version of the bill.
We will have more from our conversation with Representative Connolly in upcoming stories.
