Executive Director of the Food Group Keri McMeans, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Reverend Mike Evers and Dining for a Cause founder, Kim Love, made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to invite the public to take part in the largest Dining for a Cause in the history of the event.
Dining for a Cause was initially started by Love, former owner of Sheridan Media and co-owner of Frackeltion’s Restaurant. The goal of the program was to donate a portion of the profits made by the restaurant to a featured nonprofit organization.
The Food Group is a 501(c)3 with the mission of feeding children who may otherwise go hungry. A grassroots effort that began with a group of concerned parents, the nonprofit is now made up of volunteers who donate thousands of hours of time operating and maintaining a variety of programs developed to get food to the children of Sheridan County. In recent years, these programs and the dedicated volunteers have grown to reach approximately 800 children a week.

McMeans and her team have worked to form partnerships with not only all of Sheridan County’s schools but foundations, the YMCA, churches, family advocacy and resource organizations and agencies, markets and many local producers to find and get food to any child in need.
According to Rev. Evers, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church has secured $55,000 dollars through grants from the diocese of the church. These funds will require a match to ensure all of those funds go directly to the Food Group.

According to Love, this generous donation from St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and the state diocese will flip the usual procedure but it also means it could be the most beneficial Dining for a Cause to date.
