The Neltje Center will present Robbie’s House, a new play created through the Mellon Foundation’s “Re-Storying the West” initiative.
According to the Center, the play centers on the story of Debra Hinkel, whose son Robbie Ramirez was killed in a police-involved incident in 2018. Crafted from Hinkel’s own words and public records, Robbie’s House explores themes of grief, justice, mental health, and the complicated truths that lie between. It is not a pro- or anti-law enforcement piece—it lives in the gray areas, inviting audiences to reflect and engage.
The Neltje Center will be hosting this event beginning at noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the Neltje Center in Banner.
Refreshments will begin at noon, 12:30 p.m. discussion with Hinkel, the actors and other collaborators. A tour of the Neltje Center will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the reading of the play will begin at 3 p.m.
Key collaborators include Hinkel who will play Robbie’s mother and central voice of the performance; Henny Russell, a Broadway actor; Amy Chaffee, a performer and dialect coach; Matthew Greenberg, a playwright and faculty at the University of Wyoming; Nancy Small, Mellon Grant recipient and faculty member at UW and Director of the Neltje Center Beth Venn.
