At the SCSD#3 Board of Trustees regular meeting on Wednesday, May 14, Aubrey Holland, School Chef, and K-12 art teacher Dawn Knudsvig were named as the Classified and Certified Employees of the Year.

Two high school seniors, Natalie Stoll and Ileigh Patterson presented a proposal to the board to again allow the seniors to take an out of state school trip. They talked about the benefits that could be gained from such a trip.

They added that every state has a different culture, and Stoll said that learning about different cultures was a good thing, especially for students from a small town. One trip that was suggested by the students was to travel to New York City. They said the trip would be a week or ten days.

One advantage would be that they could earn college credits. Activities Director Jennifer Betz explained how that would work.

Greg Rohrer, School Business Manager, gave a presentation on the preliminary budget for the next school year.

The board also moved to offer several new courses for 7-12 grade students, Music Appreciation; History of Rock and Roll; officiating interscholastic sports; film study and ELA (English Language Arts) for Careers.

The board received another offer for the Arvada School property, but it was still below what they felt was fair for the building and 1.2 acres. They board will propose a counter offer on the property.

High School Graduation will be held on May 18 at 1 p.m. at the school.

Next meeting will be held on June 10 at 6 p.m.
