News – Sheridan Media

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is alerting the public they will host a public meeting in Sheridan on June 30, to gather input and answer questions regarding the proposed changes to Chapter 52, Take of Nongame Wildlife from Within Wyoming.

The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. Monday, June 30, at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department Sheridan Regional Office at 700 Valley View Dr.

The Department is encouraging the public to attend and submit written comments.

According to the Game and Fish the proposed updates to Chapter 52, prompted by recent legislative action, officially reclassify otters as nongame wildlife, clarifying their management status within the state. The regulation further establishes requirements for individuals to report and turn over any unintentionally taken otters. Proposed updates also clarify requirements for reporting and tagging unintentionally taken gray and swift foxes to aid in species management.

Copies of the proposed regulations are available on the Game and Fish website and at the Sheridan Game and Fish office.

The public is encouraged to attend and submit comments. Written comments must be received by 5 p.m. on July 31. Public comments will be shared with the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission prior to its September 9-10 meeting in Lander.

Comments can be submitted online, at a public meeting or mailed to:
