The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday the promotion of Lt. Doug Sanders to Patrol Lieutenant. Patrol Lieutenant Sander’s primary responsibility will be leading the patrol division within the Sheriff’s Office and serving as Sheridan County Undersheriff, standing in for Sheriff Levi Dominguez as needed.
According to information from the Sheriff’s Office, Sanders began his law enforcement career with the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office in 2005 as a Detention Deputy. Throughout his time with the Sheriff’s Office, he has served in almost every capacity within the law enforcement profession.
Lt. Sanders has first-hand experience working in the jail, served as a Task Force Officer with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, has been a Field Training Officer, served on the Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, partnered with K9 Fox on the Sheriff’s Office K9 team, served as a First-Line Supervisor within the patrol division prior to his promotion as Patrol Lieutenant, and he is currently an instructor for Sheridan County’s Active Shooter response program.
Sanders grew up in Big Horn and graduated from Big Horn High School. Following high school graduation, Sanders attended the University of Wyoming, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, where he then returned home to embark on this law enforcement career.
