The Johnson County School Board has voted to approve a Resolution to keep amateur sports as amateur at the high school level.
The question is whether or not to allow Wyoming athletes to pursue Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) deals while still in high school.
The Wyoming High School Athletics Association (WHSAA) has been considering a policy to allow the state’s high school athletes to pursue NIL deals.
The Resolution adopted by the Johnson County School Board explains they are opposed to the idea.
Superintendent Charles Auzqui said that by adopting the Resolution, it does not become a district policy, only a message to the WHSAA.
The board voted unanimously to adopt the Resolution.
