Sanders Named Sheridan County Undersheriff

News – Sheridan Media

Sheridan County Sheriff Levi Dominguez has appointed longtime deputy Doug Sanders as the county’s new Undersheriff.

The announcement was made during a recent appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse.

Sanders was promoted in June following an extensive application and evaluation process. Sheriff Dominguez said the decision was a difficult one, as all applicants were highly qualified — but Sanders ultimately stood out.

The promotion process, Dominguez noted, is deliberately rigorous. It includes peer reviews, interviews with a panel of community and law enforcement representatives, and more than a full day at an assessment center run by the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police.

Sanders brings 20 years of law enforcement experience to the role, having served in a variety of capacities over the course of his career.

He played a key role in reestablishing the Sheriff’s Office K9 program and was a vocal advocate for its return. Until recently, Sanders served as a K9 deputy alongside his partner, Fox. He acknowledged that the hardest part of the promotion was stepping away from that role.

That transition was made easier by the appointment of Deputy Kayla Oswald, who has now been certified with Fox. The two are expected to return to patrol duty within the next week.
