Jo Co Commission Signs Off on Lake DeSmet Water Rights

Johnson County’s Commissioners voted to sign off on water rights on the North Access point at Lake DeSmet to allow the owner of property around the access to clean up the issue to continue to develop the subdivision.

Engineer Brent Bennett, with Nelson Engineering, explained why the county needed to voluntarily abandon the rights.

The commission, after discussion, voted to allow the chairman to sign the Application to Detach from the water rights on the property.

The documents will now go to the state for their review.
