State Representative Marilyn Connolly (R-HD40) gave the latest happenings to the Johnson County Commission from the state legislators and their interim committees.

She said they are working hard behind the scenes leading up to the 2026 legislative session coming in February.

Connolly said the Travel and Recreation Committee, which she serves on, is focusing on landowner hunting tags, allowing the Game & Fish to set a cap on them, the transfer of ownership sale of landowner tags, and continuing to discuss corner crossings and the issues surrounding them.

Commission Chairman Bill Novotny said he hoped the legislature remember that mandates from them, such as elections laws, means the counties then struggle to find ways to pay to implement them.
