The WYO Performing Arts and Education Center has announced that Hello, Dolly! will Premiere the WYO Theater on Saturday, Oct. 18, in Sheridan. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the curtain at 7 p.m.
Widely considered one of the most enduring musical comedies of all time, Hello, Dolly! is filled with humor, romance, dance and some of the most memorable songs in musical theater.
According to the WYO, the musical adaptation of Thornton Wilder’s play The Matchmaker follows the romantic and comic exploits of Dolly Gallagher Levi, a turn-of-the-century matchmaker and “woman who arranges things,” certain to thrill and entertain audiences again and again.
The production, directed by Marva Craft with music direction by Kathy McNickle and design by Jeannie Hall, features an all-local cast of 23 performers and a live band of local musicians.
“Hello, Dolly! is a Broadway classic that has a way of leaving audiences elevated, glowing and laughing,” WYO Theater Executive Director Erin Butler said. “We’re so excited to offer this fun production as our Premiere event this season!”
The Premiere evening will include passed hors d’oeuvres and specialty cocktails at the cash bar. Attendees are encouraged to arrive in costume in the theme of the show or in attire that inspires them. Tickets for Premiere Night cost $80 per person and are available at wyotheater.com, by calling 307-672-9084 or at the box office at 42 N. Main St.
Encore performances are set for Sunday, Oct. 19, and Sunday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m., as well as Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 23-25, at 7 p.m. Tickets for encores cost $29 for adults, $27 for seniors and $23 for students.
