The Museum at the Bighorns Gift shop currently has a large plastic sheet separating it from the main exhibit space, but that space is finally there.
Director Carrie Edinger and Operations Manager Chip King reported that construction at the museum’s new location at 171 N. Main St. is progressing steadily as crews move into the next phase of the remodel.

Edinger said recent additions and structural updates have begun to transform the interior, allowing the museum to plan exhibit spaces with greater flexibility. Movable walls from the old location are being incorporated into the design to guide visitors through rotating displays and create a dynamic experience that will evolve and change throughout the year.
Remodeling a historic building to meet the security, climate and visitor flow needs of a museum has been a long and careful process. Edinger said the project has been unique, but she and King are excited to begin implementing programs and exhibits that will pique the interest of Sheridan residents and visitors.

Work on Phase 2 is well underway, but the museum still needs community support to complete the project. Much of the Phase 2 renovation has been supported through a matching grant from the Roberts Family Foundation. King emphasized that every donation contributes to the museum’s progress, regardless of size, and helps bring the museum’s vision closer to reality.
