WYO Play is announcing Sheridan High School’s Fall Drama Club will present two showcases of monologues, scenes, songs and one-act plays at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Nov. 13 and 14, in the Sue Henry Auditorium.
According to WYO PLAY founder, head teacher and Fall Drama Director Grace Cannon-Wallace, the performances will give the community a preview of what the Drama Club has prepared for the Wyoming State Thespian Festival competition, which will be held in early December at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Donations will be accepted at the door, and all proceeds will support the club’s travel to the festival.
The SHS Fall Drama Club and Thespian Troupe are eager to return to the Wyoming State Thespian Festival, a three-day event featuring competitions in solo and group acting, musical theater, costume design, makeup, lighting, scenic and sound design. Students will also participate in workshops, audition for scholarships and meet theater enthusiasts from across the state.
This year’s club includes 35 members working across performance and technical categories. To help prepare them, Cannon-Wallace enlisted coaches and directors Melissa Suchor, Stephanie Zukowski, Susan Clinch and AJ Longhurst. Cannon-Wallace said she is grateful for the support and expertise each has brought to the troupe.
The showcase serves as the main fundraising event for the club. Audience members are encouraged to bring cash and a generous spirit. In addition to donations for entry, a People’s Choice Awards display will allow guests to vote with their dollars for their favorite entries in the musical theater, monologue, duo scene and group scene categories.
