Funding is always an issue with schools. Staff salaries, building upkeep, food services and classrooms materials are necessary expenses in running a school.
Unless there is a major maintenance project, staff is the greatest expense necessary for educating the future generations. Hiring and retaining quality staff is fundamental at a school. One way hire and retain qualified staff is through their wages.

Recently, Superintendent Scott Stults said that the staff at SCSD#2 will receive a substantial bonus, just in time for the holidays. He said that the state of Wyoming wrote the school district a check as a way to make up for the shortfall created by the recent property tax reduction.
He said this is additional money they could choose how to spend, and although they had to pay some expenditures Scott said,

Stults also talked about the timing of the bonus payments, giving them the money right before the upcoming holiday season.
Trustee Ann Perkins, at the Monday night SCSD#2 Board meeting thanked Stults and the staff for recommending this one-time bonus, “I am so thrilled we are able to do this for our staff,” she said. The board moved to approve the budget amendment which included the bonus.
