November 6, 2025

News – Sheridan Media

As the City of Sheridan prepares for the winter months, parking and snow removal are on the minds of officials. Sheridan Police Department Chief Travis Koltiska and Captain Tom Ringley made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss the City’s Parking Ordinances.

The SPD Chief said the most frequent parking complaints received by the department involve vehicles parked in a public or private location for longer than 48 hours.

Chief T. Koltiska

Per City ordinance no person shall park, store or leave standing, or permit to be parked, stored or left standing, upon the public streets or alleys of the city, any vehicle for a continuous period of longer than 48 hours, except for fully operative motor vehicles belonging to persons residing upon the abutting property.

Captain Ringley said if you own the vehicle, as long as it is operable, it may be parked abutting your property over 48 hours. But if the vehicle is not yours, and has been parked in front of your property for longer than 48 hours, the SPD will place a sticker on the vehicle warning the owner it will be removed at the owner’s expense within 24 hours.
