Federal Grant to Improve All Sheridan Library Branches

News – Sheridan Media

The Sheridan County Public Library System has received a 1.7 million dollar federal grant to begin a multi-branch renovation project aimed at improving community access to work, education and wellness resources. As a federal award, the funding is restricted to the specific upgrades outlined in the library’s proposal, which includes redesigned layouts, new furniture and expanded program spaces across the entire system.

During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Library System Board of Trustees Chair Anna Edwards said the application process alone took approximately half a year’s time to complete.

According to Library System Director Amy Long, design work for the Ranchester, Story and Clearmont branches is already complete, with Arete and O’Dell leading the project. Renovation dates have not yet been scheduled, but library officials say timelines will be announced on the library website once construction schedules are finalized. Fulmer Branch plans are still being developed and will be available for public viewing in the building and online after the new year.

Library leadership also plans to gather community feedback throughout the renovation period through an “Ask Me Anything” format, which will include online responses and in-person town hall meetings.

With the 2027 events and programs calendar already being shaped around the new spaces and partnerships, Edwards said the upgrades are designed to support expanding programs across all Sheridan County branches.
