Sheridan Area Search and Rescue Announces 2025 Member Awards

The Sheridan Area Search and Rescue (SASAR) has released the recipients of its 2025 annual member awards, recognizing excellence, dedication, and outstanding service to the SASAR team and the Sheridan community. The SASAR reported they are all honored to announce these outstanding individuals in the community. 

Bob Steinbauer has been named the 2025 Rookie of the Year in recognition of his exceptional first-year contributions to the team. Steinbauer quickly established himself as a capable, dependable responder whose willingness to learn and consistent professionalism strengthened SASAR’s operational capacity throughout the year.

SASAR is also pleased to recognize Andy Earp and Heath Steel as the 2025 Operational Members of the Year. Both Earp and Steel have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to SASAR’s mission, providing leadership during dynamic and complex incident responses. Their strong operational skills, teamwork, and dedication to continuous improvement have elevated the organization’s ability to serve Sheridan County effectively.

Mike Boehrer, Chair of the Board of SASAR, shared the names of the awardees, who were nominated by a vote of the SASAR membership, reflecting the respect and appreciation of fellow team members and the Board of Directors for the recipients’ contributions.

SASAR has also extended sincere gratitude to Sheridan County Sheriff Levi Dominguez and Under Sheriff Doug Sanders for their ongoing support and leadership. Their commitment to search-and-rescue operations in Sheridan County remains essential to the team’s success.

The SASAR board expressed heartfelt appreciation to all SASAR team members for their hard work, professionalism, and countless volunteer hours, and to the Sheridan community, whose continued support makes the organization’s mission possible.
