Sheridan Man Arraigned on Multiple Felony Charges

A 19-year-old Sheridan man was arraigned Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court on five felony charges for his role in stealing firearms from vehicles in Sheridan County and Billings, Montana. At the hearing, Cody Garner pleaded not guilty to two counts of felony conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary, two counts of felony theft and one count of felony accessory after the fact. All of the criminal activity occurred between June and October 19 of this year when Garner allegedly conspired with other individuals to burglarize vehicles in Sheridan County and in Billings. A number of firearms were stolen during the burglaries and Garner is alleged to be responsible for taking possession of and hiding some of the guns off of Red Grade Road in Sheridan County.

District Court Judge Darci Phillips scheduled a three-day jury trial to begin Monday, May 4, 2026. A pretrial conference will take place April 9 at 10 am. Garner’s bond was continued under the same terms and conditions that were previously sent in Sheridan County Circuit Court. Each of the conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary charges are punishable by not less than five and not more than 25 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000. Each of the theft charges is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 and the accessory after the fact charge is punishable by up to three years in prison and a fine of up to $3,000.
