AARP of Wyoming State President Stella Montano and Community Action Team Coordinator Clarence Montano made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to announce the locations that will host the receptacles for the 2026 Souper Bowl.
It was over a decade ago that Sheridan resident Wayne Schatz gave a ride to a friend who needed food after the holidays. Schatz took his friend around the city to a few food banks and noticed bare shelves. Food banks give a lot during the holidays and to replenish the shelves, Schatz worked with AARP Sheridan to develop the Souper Bowl.
AARP will be placing containers in certain areas around Sheridan and asking generous donors to place the donated food in the bin corresponding with the NFL team they believed would win the game.

The Montanos believe it is the spirit of generosity and friendly competition that helps to fill the containers with non-perishable food items each year.
According to Clarence, this fun and simple way for the community to contribute has generated over 10 tons of food to the Salvation Army and the Food Group over the last decade, a number the Montanos would love to double in half the time.
For volunteer opportunities with the AARP Community Action Team and help to collect the food once the contest has concluded, call Executive Board Member AARP Volunteer Clarence Montano at 307-752-1821.
