The U.S. Senate Tuesday voted 51 to 48 to open up debate on the Save America Act, the contentious Voter ID bill that has cleared the House and is expected to spark some heated debate from both sides of the aisle in the coming days. Prior to the vote, U.S. Senator John Barrasso, Senate Majority Whip, spoke in favor of the Save America Act.
The Save America Act would require voters to show approved photo identification to vote and proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote. The Senate is expected to continue to debate the bill throughout this week and possibly into next week.
